Synopsis
Daniel Plainview, a former silver miner turned oil prospector, ventures to oil-rich California. Exploiting his son's image, he deceives landowners into selling their properties cheaply. The arrival of preacher Eli Sunday spawns a dangerous rivalry that jeopardizes their existence.
