Synopsis
Ivan Demarin, a young officer in Peter the Great's new guards, obeys the Tsar's command to travel to Tobolsk in Siberia. There, he experiences his first love and becomes entangled in a plot by local princes seeking gold in Yarkand. Surrounded by Dzungar hordes, Ivan is isolated with no assistance available.
