Synopsis
The cross-country road race in the movie is inspired by the Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, created by Brock Yates to challenge the 55 mph speed limit. It pays homage to the daring spirit of Erwin G. "Cannonball" Baker and real-life racers.
