Synopsis
In the midst of the Cold War, the Soviet Union captures American pilot Francis Gary Powers and sentences him to 10 years in prison after shooting down his U-2 spy plane. James Donovan, a New York lawyer, is enlisted by the CIA to negotiate Powers' release through a prisoner exchange in Berlin, where Rudolf Abel, a spy previously defended by Donovan, is part of the deal.
